About
Mariah
I obtained my bachelors degree in psychology and masters degree in community counseling from Missouri Valley College. Since then I have been working with various populations including children/adolescents in residential care, adults struggling with addiction, and outpatient treatment for adults struggling with trauma related symptoms. I have found I am most passionate about working with individuals who are seeking help for women related issues and members of the LGBTQ+ community. I utilize an eclectic approach, pulling from both evidence-based and experiential practices, to help clients reach their goals. Some of my commonly used interventions are derived from Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy, Person-Centered Therapy, Feminist Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing (MI). I believe that knowledge is power and I find it imperative that psychoeducation is a continual part of treatment so that clients may fully understand what trauma is and how it is impacting them. The therapeutic relationship is valuable to me and I work diligently to ensure I am competent in caring for my clients specific needs.

In my personal time, I enjoy hobbies such as reading, crocheting, sewing and sand volleyball or caring for my children - Ozzie & Saint (doggies) Albus, Katniss & August (kitties).
